Staff Engineer (Core Backend & Distributed Systems)

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Staff Engineer with deep expertise in backend engineering, distributed systems, and scalable infrastructure design. As a core technical leader, you will influence strategic decisions, partner closely with the founding team, and play a critical role in shaping our AI and ML infrastructure. This role combines hands-on system architecture with leadership responsibilities, ensuring we deliver robust, high-performance platforms for data-intensive workloads.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Architect and Develop: Design and build scalable backend infrastructure optimized for high-performance AI and ML workloads.
• Lead Feature Development: Own end-to-end delivery of key product features, from concept through deployment and ongoing support.
• Innovate APIs & Microservices: Define efficient RESTful APIs and microservice architectures tailored to customer-driven use cases.
• Scale Distributed Systems: Implement systems designed for high-throughput, low-latency, large-scale data processing.
• Enhance Scalability: Drive proactive evolution of system architecture to meet future scale and performance demands.
• Implement CI/CD Pipelines: Develop streamlined CI/CD workflows for rapid testing, deployment, and iteration.
• Provide Technical Leadership: Shape engineering strategy and roadmap decisions through close collaboration with technical leadership.
• Mentorship & Optimization: Mentor engineers, establish best practices, and continuously refine engineering processes.
• Partner Cross-Functionally: Collaborate with product, ML, and full-stack engineering teams to align features with business goals.
• Enhance Reliability: Ensure uptime and resilience with advanced monitoring, logging, and alerting using Docker, Kubernetes, and modern cloud platforms.

What We Need to See

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience with contributions to large-scale platform development.
• Deep expertise in C, C++, Python, REST APIs, and modern backend frameworks.
• Proven track record in architecting and scaling distributed systems tailored for AI workloads.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, RocksDB, etc.).
• Extensive experience in building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Demonstrated success in implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• History of owning complex product features from inception through production support.
• Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
